SUU’s Ashcroft Observatory, free star-gazing, located on the hilltop just south of the SUU Farm on Westview Drive (Hwy 56 W to Westview Drive).  Open at 9pm to 11pm, interested parties should plan on arriving at the observatory just as the sun sets. For more information and time call 435-586-1409.

Toadz Talent Showcase, held from 9pm to 1am at Toadz (432 N 100 W, Cedar City) $4 cover charge. All performers are welcome, hosted by Pablo “Of the Mountain” Schwartz. For more info call 435-867-8988.

Art Insight held at 7pm at SUU Campus (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) and features presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights and attend gallery openings. Music Memories 2pm to 4pm at Emerald Pointe (995 S Regency Rd, Cedar City) FREE program for music lovers with a variety of musicians from Iron County that will take you back to the golden age of music. Southern Utah Art Invitational Show and Sale: held Mon – Sat 11am to 8pm in the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery (SUU Campus, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City). The exhibit will display over 250 pieces from many mediums of art including painting, photography, wood-carving, fused glass, and ceramics.

Junior Ranger Station Program open Friday thru Sunday from 10am to 2pm with themed presentations at 10am and noon (12pm) held at the Yurt (3 miles north of the Cedar Breaks National Monument Visitor Center at the Alpine Pond trail head). Activities include: kids programs, crafts and activities for all Junior Rangers and even those people who are not-so-Junior are encouraged to participate.

Iron County Fair: Sunday Evening Program held 7pm at the Parowan High School (Parowan). SUU President, Michael Benson, will be the featured speaker. He will also be performing on the piano and accompanying his sister, Mary Richards, an accomplished flutist, and her three daughters on the harp and violin. Cedar Breaks “Star Party” conducted by park staff and astronomy volunteers begin at 9:30pm at Point Supreme (Cedar Breaks National Monument, 23 miles East of Cedar City, via Hwy 14 and 148.) The park will have several large telescopes available until 11pm; visitors are also welcome to bring their own telescopes. Remember to dress warmly for the cool night air. National Park Fee FREE Day includes Zion and Bryce Canyon National Park, Kolob Canyons and Cedar Breaks National Monument. Come enjoy the wonders of nature for FREE. Visitors are reminded that the fee waiver applies to entrance fees only and does not include special use fees such as camping and backcountry permits.
