Monday, 5TH                              

Labor Day Breakfast Held 7:30am-9:45pm (90 S Main, Parowan) provided by the Lions Club, followed by the Iron County Fair Parade.  For more information on the breakfast call Phyllis 435-477-8825.

1st Annual Bike Run for Cancer held 8:00am at the Valentine Peak Complex (500 E 200 N, Parowan). Presented by the Cedar City Rotary Club and the Labor Day Car Classic. For information call Tarri 435-559-2758 or Jeff 435-531-0218.

8Th Annual Labor Day Car Classic held 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Parowan Lion’s Park (200 S 300 E, Parowan). Award ceremony at 2:00pm. For information call Tarri 435-559-2758.

Iron County Fair held at the Iron County Fair Grounds in Parowan. Exhibits include horse races, equestrian events, rodeo, Mud Bog, Demolition Derby, carnival, exhibits, car show, live entertainment & Miss Iron County Fair pageant. Midway West Amusement Carnival at the Iron County Fair 10:00am to 10:00pm held in Parowan on the Fair Grounds. Along with your favorite rides, family-friendly games–with levels of skill for all ages–are also provided to add to the fun carnival experience. Midway West Carnival specializes in popcorn, cotton candy, freshly made caramel, candy apples and snow cones. For information call 435-477-8380.

Building Industry Association Festival of Homes Tour newly constructed homes built with the newest, innovative processes and materials available. Open 10:00am to 8:00pm, tickets are $10 and are available at any branch of State Bank of Southern Utah of Coldwell Banker Advantage in Cedar City, children under 2 are free). SUU’s Ashcroft Observatory, free star-gazing, located on the hilltop just south of the SUU Farm on Westview Drive (Hwy 56 W to Westview Drive).  Open 9pm to 11pm, interested parties should plan on arriving at the observatory just as the sun sets. For more information and time call 435-586-1409.

Toadz Talent Showcase, held from 9pm to 1am at Toadz (432 N 100 W, Cedar City) $4 cover charge. All performers are welcome, hosted by Pablo “Of the Mountain” Schwartz. For more info call 435-867-8988.

 

Tuesday, 6TH                                               

OSU: Holiday Music Recital held 7:30pm at St Jude’s Episcopal Church (70 N 200 E, Cedar City). Suggested recital donation, $5 for adults and $3 for students. For information call Sara 435-586-2286 or visit www.orchestraofsouthernutah.org.

 

Wednesday, 7TH

Cedar Square Dancing Classes begin at 7pm in the Senior Center (489 E 200 South, Cedar City).  The first class is free, cost after is $7 a couple or $3.50 a person. For more information please call Pat and Hazel Matthews 435-867-9210 or 435-531-6811.

Satellite Salon Series: Master Class held 3:00pm in the Thorley Recital Hall (SUU Music Building, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) featuring Peter Jacobson and Dr. Lynn Vartan demonstrating   instrumental techniques and Jacobson will interact with some students and coach their own  performance. Jacobson and Vartan will be joined by Jay Merryweather and the trio will discuss their careers as working artists. The master class is targeted to college and high school age students.

Great American Stampede Western themed activities including a parade down Cedar City’s Main Street at 12:00pm (noon) on Saturday, and professional rodeo action at 7:00pm including the “Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls” Trick Riding & Roping at the Iron Rangers Arena (Cross Hollows Events Center).  Rodeo admission is $10 Adults, $6 Kids under 12yrs. 50th Annual Utah Shakespeare Festival Held in Cedar City and featuring the 7:30pm performance of ‘Noises Off!’. The Festival also offers literary seminars, and play orientations. For information, schedule, and tickets call the Theatre Box Office at 1-800-PLAYTIX or visit www.bard.org.
