Monday, 13TH                              

SUU’s Ashcroft Observatory, free star-gazing, located on the hilltop just south of the SUU Farm on Westview Drive (Hwy 56 W to Westview Drive).  Open 9:00pm to 11:00pm, interested parties should plan on arriving at the observatory just as the sun sets. Toadz Talent Showcase, held from 9:00pm to 1:00am at Toadz (432 N 100 W, Cedar City) $4 cover charge. All performers are welcome, hosted by Pablo “Of the Mountain” Schwartz. For more info call 435-867-8988.

 

Tuesday, 14TH  

Children’s Story Time Held from 12:30pm – 1pm at the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum (635 N. Main St, Cedar City). FREE. For information call 435-586-9290.

 

Wednesday, 15TH                                                                                       

Hands on History – All About Rope come learn all about Pioneer Life every Wednesday for ages 8 to 12yrs from 10:30am – 11:30am at the Frontier Homestead State Park Museum (635 N. Main St, Cedar City), today’s event includes Drop the Hanky, Rope Making, Knot Tying, Rope Bed, and Roping. Cost is only $16 for all 8 weeks. For information call 435-586-9290.

Uncover the Past an Archaeological Excavation at Fort Harmony (one mile west of I-15, exit 42, between Cedar City and St George). Public Tours available June 15 – 17 at 10:00am and 2:00pm each day. People wanting to volunteer their time to help with the excavation call Karen Platt 435-867-8422.

Cedar Square Dancing Classes begin at 7:00pm in the Senior Center (489 E 200 South, Cedar City).  The first class is free, cost after is $7 a couple or $3.50 a person. For more information please call Pat and Hazel Matthews 435-867-9210 or 435-531-6811.

Open Mic night, (unless something else coincides) at 8:00pm at Groovacious (173 N 100 W, Cedar City) and is FREE to attend. Open to all musicians, poets, actors or egomaniacs, anyone who wants to perform in front of a live audience and improve their stage skills. For more info call 435-867-9800.

Thursday, 16TH  

Uncover the Past an Archaeological Excavation at Fort Harmony (one mile west of I-15, exit 42, between Cedar City and St George). Public Tours available June 15 – 17 at 10:00am and 2:00pm each day. People wanting to volunteer their time to help with the excavation call Karen Platt 435-867-8422.

Utah Summer Games Grand Opening Ceremonies begins at 8:30pm and is an Olympic-style grand opening ceremony with sports celebrities, Hall of Fame inductions, live entertainment, fireworks, and more. Friday, 17TH             

Artist’s Invitational Exhibit and Sale and The Costume Designers’ Art: 50 Years at the Utah Shakespeare Festival Experience the art from the studio and the stage. Held Monday – Saturday 10:00am to 8:00pm in the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery (SUU Campus, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City). Admission is FREE. Friday Music Memories held 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Emerald Pointe (995 S Regency Rd, Cedar City) FREE program for music lovers with a variety of musicians from Iron County. Cedar City PRCA Championship Rodeo held 8:00pm at the Iron Rangers Arena (11 N. Cross Hollow Dr, Cedar City). Come see the “Best in the West.” Discount tickets are available until June 11th for tonight’s performance only. Buy one full price ticket and get the 2nd one of equal or lesser value at 1/2 price. Saturday, 18TH

Utah Summer Games Triathlon beginning at Gunlock Reservoir and finishing on the Track at Snow Canyon High School, Sprint Distance Race -750 Meter Swim – 15 Mile Bike – 5k Run. Entry Fee $60. To register and for more information visit www.utahsummergames.org

SUMA Art Hikes to Red Cliffs Desert Reserve meet 9:00am at the Cedar City Main Street Park, east side (near main pavilion), Cedar City, UT.
