Monday, 15TH                       

South Hall Gallery: Max Dickson Oil Painting Exhibit open 8am to 5pm Monday thru Friday. Admission is FREE and open to the public. South Hall Gallery is located on SUU Campus (351 W University Blvd.) For more information call 435-586-5432 or visit www.suu.edu/pva/artgallery.

ULLR Burn will be held 6pm in front of the fire station (Brian Head). All are welcome to join in on the pre-ski season ritual of a fun sort of sacrifice to the Norse God in hopes of a good winter season. The celebration to usher in winter generally includes a big bonfire, fireworks and a toast with aptly named ULLR peppermint schnapps. Attendees often bring old ski or snow board equipment, gear, mate-less gloves, etc. to be burned in a big metal drum as sacrifice to ULLR.

SUU Woodwind & Brass Ensemble held 7:30pm in the Thorley Recital Hall (SUU Campus, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City), admission is FREE and the general public is encouraged to attend. For information call 435-865-8800 or visit www.suu.edu/arts.

SUU’s Ashcroft Observatory, free star-gazing, located on the hilltop just south of the SUU Farm on Westview Drive (Hwy 56 W to Westview Drive).  Open 9pm to 11pm, interested parties should plan on arriving at the observatory just as the sun sets. For more information and time call 435-586-1409.

Toadz Talent Showcase, held from 9pm to 1am at Toadz (432 N 100 W, Cedar City) $4 cover charge. All performers are welcome, hosted by Pablo “Of the Mountain” Schwartz. For more info call 435-867-8988.

 

Tuesday, 16TH                                         

SUU Fall Semester Lecture Series (Convocations) held in the SUU Auditorium (300 W University Blvd, Cedar City) at 11:30am, admission is FREE and open to the public. Featuring “What Islam has Done for Us: Appreciating Islam’s Contribution to the World” presented by Dr Bradley J Cook; Provost at Southern Utah University. Wednesday, 17TH                                                                                

Cedar Square Dancing Classes begin at 7pm in the Senior Center (489 E 200 South, Cedar City).  The first class is free, cost after is $7 a couple or $3.50 a person. For more information please call Pat and Hazel Matthews 435-867-9210 or 435-531-6811.

Thursday, 18TH                                                                                 

The 2010 Leadership Luncheon held 11:15am to 1pm in the Gilbert Great Hall (SUU’s Haze Hunter Conference Center, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City), $25 per plate or $190 per table of eight. Art Insight held at 7pm at Sharwan Smith Center (SUU Campus, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) will showcase the 9th Annual “Show Off” of students of the SUU Art and Design program and their best-of-the-semester work. This is a one-evening-only exhibition and much of the work will be available for purchase. Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend. Friday, 19TH                  

Friday Music Memories held 2pm to 4pm at Emerald Pointe (995 S Regency Rd, Cedar City) FREE program for music lovers with a variety of musicians from Iron County. Come sing along, dance and have fun. Everyone is welcome and refreshments are served. For more information call Flora 435-867-0055.

Talon’s Annual Craft Fair will be held 5pm to 9pm at Canyon View High School (166 W 1925 N, Cedar City). Local crafters and vendors will be selling holiday gifts. Enjoy fun, food, and entertainment for only $3. For more information call Sandra 435-865-1441.
