Monday, 8TH               

SUU’s Ashcroft Observatory, free star-gazing, located on the hilltop just south of the SUU Farm on Westview Drive (Hwy 56 W to Westview Drive).  Open 6:30pm to 8:30pm, interested parties should plan on arriving at the observatory just as the sun sets. SUU Student Piano Recital held at 7:30pm in the Thorley Recital Hall (351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) featuring Gerry Rheault-Junior. Admission is FREE. For more information call Donna McIntyre (435)586-7746.

 

Tuesday, 9TH                                    

SUU Spring Semester Lecture Series (Convocations) held at 11:30am in the SUU Auditorium (300 W University Blvd, Cedar City, admission is FREE and open to the public.  Dr. Kwame Anthony Appiah; Professor of Philosophy at Princeton University will present “Cosmopolitanism: Ethics in a World of Strangers.” For more information call (435)586-5419 or visit www.suu.edu/convocations.

Children’s Story Time held 12:30pm – 1pm at the Iron Mission State Park (635 N. Main St, Cedar City), participation is FREE. For more information call 435-586-9290.

Tournées Film Festival held at 7pm in the Sharwan Smith Student Center Theater (SUU Campus, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) premiering "La Graine et le Mulet" (The Secrets of the Grain) which tells the story of a large North African family residing in France. Admission is FREE and open to the public.

The Winning Edge Woman’s Self Defense Class held 7pm at the Iron County Search & Rescue Building (Kitty Hawk Way net to the Animal Shelter). Cost is a $5 donation to the Sheriff’s Search & Rescue. Class will cover basic self defense for women, how to react and get away from the threat. For more information call 435-867-6245.

Wednesday, 10TH                                                                           

Cedar Square Dancing Classes begin at 7pm in the Senior Center (489 E 200 South, Cedar City).  The first class is free, cost after is $7 a couple or $3.50 a person. For more information please call Pat and Hazel Matthews 435-867-9210 or 435-531-6811.

Open Mic night, at 8pm at Groovacious (173 N 100 W, Cedar City) and is FREE to attend. Open to all musicians, poets, actors or egomaniacs, anyone who wants to perform in front of a live audience and improve their stage skills. For more info call 435-867-9800.

Outdoor Education Series: ‘Finding Your Way Around the Southern Utah Night Skies’ held 11:30am -12:30pm in the SUU Outdoor Center (SUU Campus, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) featuring speakers: Laura Cotts, SUU Assistant Professor of Physical Science. Bring your brown bag lunch and relax and enjoy discussions and hands-on activities to help you learn more about the great outdoors and all it has to offer. Admission is FREE and everyone is invited.

Music Memories 2pm to 4pm at Emerald Pointe (995 S Regency Rd, Cedar City) FREE program for music lovers with a variety of musicians from Iron County that will take you back to the golden age of music. Come sing along, dance and have fun with other adults from Cedar City and our residents at Emerald Pointe Assisted Living and Care Community. Everyone is welcome and refreshments are served. Ride it! Rock it! Roll it! Day at Brian Head events run from 9am to 4pm at Brain Head Resort. Registration from 9am to 11am on the 3rd floor Giant Steps Lodge. Events include Terrain Park Competition (9am to 4pm), Dummy Jump (12pm Noon), Friends & Family Race (1pm to 3pm), Celebrity Ski Team Costume Contest (3:30pm) and the Awards/Medal Ceremony (4pm).
