Monday, 1ST              

SUU’s Ashcroft Observatory, free star-gazing, located on the hilltop just south of the SUU Farm on Westview Drive (Hwy 56 W to Westview Drive).  Open 6:30pm to 8:30pm, interested parties should plan on arriving at the observatory just as the sun sets. Tuesday, 2ND                                   

SUU Spring Semester Lecture Series (Convocations) presents “The Scalpel and Silver Bear: A Navajo Women Surgeon’s Story” presented by Dr. Lori Arviso Alvord; First Navajo Woman Board Certified in Surgery. Held in the SUU Auditorium (300 W University Blvd, Cedar City) at 11:30am, admission is FREE and open to the public. For more information call (435)586-5419.

Tournées Film Festival held at 7pm in the Sharwan Smith Student Center Theater (SUU Campus, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) premiering "Peur(s) du Noir" (Fear(s) of the Dark). This black-and-white animation mixes reality with some of the greatest fears common to the human experience, bringing to life fears of the dark, injections, pursuit and more. Admission is FREE and open to the public.

Music Masterworks Series: SUU Choral Concert. 7:30pm in the Thorley Recital Hall (SUU campus), Tickets: $8 general admission. For more information 435-586-7700.

 

Wednesday, 3RD                                                                          

18th Annual Friends of the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery Art Auction held at 6pm in Rusty’s Ranch House Restaurant (3 miles E of Cedar City on Hwy U-14).  Fine art works to be auctioned include paintings, drawings, prints, photography, ceramics, jewelry and other unique works of art by some of the finest artists in the Southwest. Cedar Square Dancing Classes begin at 7pm in the Senior Center (489 E 200 South, Cedar City).  The first class is free, cost after is $7 a couple or $3.50 a person. For more information please call Pat and Hazel Matthews 435-867-9210 or 435-531-6811.

In Jubilo-Women’s Choir Concert will perform at 7:30pm in the Heritage Theater (Cedar City). FREE. For  more information 435-586-4590.

Open Mic night, at 8pm at Groovacious (173 N 100 W, Cedar City) and is FREE to attend. Open to all musicians, poets, actors or egomaniacs, anyone who wants to perform in front of a live audience and improve their stage skills. For more info call 435-867-9800.

Thursday, 4TH                                                                            

Outdoor Education Series: ‘Grand Canyon Dreams: Thirty Days Floating the Colorado’ held 11:30am -12:30pm in the SUU Outdoor Center (SUU Campus, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) featuring speakers: Phillip Rhoades, SUU Student, guide & adventurer. Admission is FREE and everyone is invited.

Art Insight held at 7pm in the Sterling R. Church Auditorium, (Sharwan Smith Center Rotunda, 351 W University Blvd, Cedar City) and featuring Three University Students. Admission is free, and the general public is invited to attend. For more information call 435-865-8800 or visit www.suu.edu/arts.

Friday, 5TH

Music Memories 2pm to 4pm at Emerald Pointe (995 S Regency Rd, Cedar City) FREE program for music lovers with a variety of musicians from Iron County that will take you back to the golden age of music. Come sing along, dance and have fun with other adults from Cedar City and our residents at Emerald Pointe Assisted Living and Care Community. Everyone is welcome and refreshments are served. Saturday, 6TH                                             

Cedar Breaks Winter Yurt- Open House (weather permitting). From 9am-4:30pm accessible only via cross country ski’s or snowshoes approximately 1 mile. Bring the family, a lunch, and a smile for a day of Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing. Meet at 9am at the Main Street Park Pavilion (200 N and 100 E, Cedar City). Car pool will be arranged, or you can caravan up and back with your own vehicle. We will be back in Cedar City by 4:30pm. To confirm conditions are ok to hold the event call 435-586-9451 before 4pm or Friday, March 5th.

KOMP 92.3 Great White Radio Weekend, come out and join the "KOMP / POINT Crew,” party on the slopes of Brian Head, ski or board all day.
